"I will not buy anything else off my registry"...

My mother, MIL and best friend are planning my baby shower for April 3rd. Well I found that when I started compiling my registry I am used it to keep track of things that I wanted to buy... which then I started buying stuff off of it. So like 6 items that are purchased was purchased by myself! LOL.... and my Mother is yelling at me to stop buying things off of it becasue no one will have anything to buy me for my shower. Anyone else buying things off their registry? Amazon is evil... well not really. They email me when things that are on my baby registry are on sale and I jump on it... So it is Amazon marketing strategies fault! LOL

  • remember that Amazon cycles sales. If your shower is April 3rd, I can almost guarantee those items WILL go on sale again between April 3rd and June when the baby gets here!

Wish I would have known that! hehehe... I secretly like buying stuff... I don't want people to feel pressured in buying us the 'big ticketed' items (or really anything, just would enjoy their company celebrating our first child), so I try to purchase those.

  • We only bought our crib because it was such a good deal!  I am waiting to see what we get at the showers before we buy anything else.
  • My mom has been yelling at me about leaving my registry alone, too.  I keep wanting to start ordering stuff, but since I didn't put much on it to begin with, she keeps telling me to leave everything so I have a variety of price points up for people to choose from.

    *Sigh*  FINE!  Haha.

  • we were at bru this week and figured out that our bottles were on sale, and a great sale! I resisted, but it was painful knowing that someone may pay full price!

  • My mother and I have bought things from the registry, but we're the only ones. My mom bought a crib a changing table, and I bought a breastpump and some other small things.

I'm not even sure I'll be having a shower since both our families are 12 hours away, and my friends are spread out too. Also I was recently laid off so wouldn't really want my old coworkers there...lol. I do have some local friends, and one has been asking about planning a shower, but I feel too bad inviting just my friends to buy things. Our families will most likely send money since that is what they did for our wedding.

I think I'll pass on the shower, hopefully I don't regret it.

  • I also used my registry to track things I planned  on purchasing myself, so that I could watch sales. I finally added a bunch of "shower gifts" to my Target registry last night.

Most of the big ticket items have been purchased or gifted, it seemed so silly to register for bibs, blankets, diapers, wipes and rattles. But that is pretty much all I need. And I know people will just look at the registry for an idea, and buy whatever they like.

Don't fret. There will be LOTS for people to buy. :-) But do try to keep a couple of big ticket items on there for those who like to go in on a big gift.

  • Yes, I have purchased items and my sister yelled at me yesterday.  I just feel so bad because she had me put some pretty expensive things on there and I don't want people to have to buy them.  She said they want to but that doesn't feel right...I told her the next two items I'll purchase which are the crib and changing table then I'll wait for the rest.
  • I bought our stroller because I figured no one was going to buy a $300 stroller and it was included on the Great Trade-In sale so I used an old carseat for 25% off.  I was also going to buy my bedding but that's where I draw the line until after my shower.  My shower isn't until April 23rd so I know I'm going to have a hard time staying away from the registry.
  • LOL...I've purchased several items from my registry. However, my items were purchased from Amazon so I can return them for free if someone else decides to buy them (yes I left them on the registry...just in case).

My shower seems like eons away (May 7th) so when I see sale items and I have a coupon its just hard to resist. :)

  • I have pretty much bought everything myself...I am nesting early and haven't had a shower yet...
